Colour & Material Library

How does one find their own colour identity in the bathroom? This question was at the heart of our collaboration with bathroom furniture specialist burgbad: a digital material library that guides bathroom planners and their clients systematically through the world of materials, surfaces, and colours.

The range of materials and colours available in bathroom design is vast – and can quickly become overwhelming. Out of uncertainty, many clients default to the safe choice: everything in white. Burgbad wanted to counter this and encourage a bolder approach to colour, with a practical tool that provides orientation without limiting creative freedom.

Together with burgbad, we revised their entire colour and material palette and translated it into a clear matrix – organised along the dimensions of light, dark, cool, warm, and neutral. A central idea throughout: material is colour. Wood, metal, and glass each carry their own colour value and, with it, their own emotion. The material library gives confidence when selecting harmonious combinations – and makes it easier to work with colour in the bathroom in a considered and individual way.
